Born on March 15, 1983, as Hirdesh Singh, Indian music producer, composer, rapper, pop singer, lyricist, and film actor Yo Yo Honey Singh is best known for producing Bhangra and Hip Hop music. His first album ‘Peshi’ featured artist Bill Singh. He gained popularity with his Punjabi album ‘International Villager’ which was released in 2011. The album was a blockbuster hit. As of 2021, Singh has produced over 15 albums. He has collaborated with singers Diljit Dosanjh, Preeti Harpal, J-Star, Jaz Dhami, Jazzy B, and Neha Kakkar amongst others. His 2014 album ‘Desi Kalakaar’ featured actress Sonakshi Sinha. Singh has also appeared in over 20 music videos as of 2021. Some of his hit music videos include ‘Brown Rang’ (2011), ‘Lak 28 Kudi Da’ (2011), ‘High Heels’ (2012), ‘This Party Getting Hot’ (2012), ‘Blue Eyes’ (2013), and ‘Loca’ (2020). His songs have been featured in over 15 Bollywood movies. Some of his popular Bollywood songs include ‘Main Sharabi’ and ‘Angrezi Beat’ from ‘Cocktail’ (2012), ‘Lungi Dance’ from ‘Chennai Express’ (2013), ‘Party All Night’ from ‘Boss’ (2013), ‘Sunny Sunny’ from ‘Yaariyan’ (2014), and ‘Aata Majhi Satakli’ from ‘Singham Returns’ (2014). He has appeared in four movies as an actor as of 2021. He is the recipient of five PTC Punjabi Awards and two MTV Awards. In 2012, an FIR was lodged against Singh for producing offensive lyrics. His work was perceived as being vulgar, misogynist, and promoting violence against women. In 2021, his wife Shalini Talwar accused him of domestic violence.
